Opel Astra: the 100% electric version debuts
This page is translated from the original post "Opel Astra : la version 100% électrique entre en scène" in French.

It was expected, and it is now official: the new Astra also has an electric version. This model uses the same motor / battery setup as the Peugeot e-308. It promises a range of over 400 km.
The electric powertrain will be available on both the five-door hatchback and the station wagon version. Opel boasts of being the first German automaker to market an electric station wagon. However, this claim should be nuanced, as the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo can also be considered an electric German station wagon. What is certain, however, is that Opel, along with Peugeot, is one of the first mainstream manufacturers to venture into this segment. Only MG with its MG 5 has preempted both brands from Stellantis group.

An Astra Electric with a 156 hp motor
Equipped with a 156 hp engine, the Opel Astra Electric can reach a top speed of 170 km/h. The three driving modes available (Eco, Normal, and Sport) vary the performance/consumption ratio. With a 54 kWh capacity, the battery isn’t large, but with controlled consumption (14.9 kWh/100 km), it still offers a range of 416 km, according to the WLTP combined cycle.
The Astra Electric can charge up to 80% of its battery in 30 minutes using a 100 kW charging station. For AC charging (slower chargers or wallboxes), the vehicle is equipped with an onboard charger of 11 kW.
In terms of style, this new version doesn’t bring anything new. The only easily recognizable feature is the “e” logo on the tailgate. The Pure Panel (or dashboard combining instrumentation and a touchscreen) houses two 10-inch screens that form a single visual block.
The new Opel Astra Electric will be launched in spring 2023. Prices have not yet been announced.
