Mazda MX-30: Reduced Charging Time Through Update

Mazda revises its MX-30 with small touches. The updates include reduced charging times and some cosmetic enhancements.
Just over a year and a half after its launch, the Mazda MX-30 receives some improvements. This is not a full facelift per se, but rather a slight update. Similar to what the Mustang Mach-e recently received, its main benefit is reducing charging times.
The new model year of the Mazda MX-30 becomes compatible with three-phase charging. Thus, the alternating current charging power rises to 11 kW (up from 6.6 kW previously). The time to charge from 20% to 80% drops to 1 hour 50 minutes.
Mazda has also reduced the direct current charging time. The maximum charging power at a fast charger increases from 40 to 50 kW. It now takes 26 minutes to recover 80% of range, a gain of 10 minutes.
A new body color
This is the main evolution of this model year’s update. Other changes are minor: a modification to the virtual sound generated by the car to help the driver gauge the electric motor’s efforts, and some cosmetic updates such as the appearance of a beige body color with a black roof and a dark gray/black interior ambiance.
Unchanged range
With the battery capacity remaining at 35.5 kWh, the range continues to be the MX-30’s Achilles’ heel. It is rated at 200 km in WLTP mixed cycle. Mazda has not altered the motor power either, which peaks at 143 hp. Performance remains logically unchanged (0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and a top speed limited to 140 km/h).
The Mazda MX-30 is priced from €35,450, excluding environmental bonus.
