Toyota’s all-terrain icon goes electric

The indestructible Toyota 4X4, beloved by adventurers worldwide, is preparing to switch to an electric powertrain.

This is no joke or fake news; Toyota is indeed considering developing a zero-emission version of its popular Land Cruiser.

Toyota claims that the concept will deliver performance comparable to the combustion version, with the added high torque typical of battery electric vehicles. The whole will be complemented by a stylish and futuristic design.

The front bumper features sleek LED headlights and a closed grille characteristic of electric vehicles, extended by a chassis skid plate. Large 8-spoke wheels fill the wheel arches of this SUV with generous ground clearance. A thin LED strip functions as the taillights, reinforcing the sense of strength and solidity of the rear section.

In terms of size, the Land Cruiser measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, 1,705 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. Toyota states that the vehicle can seat a total of 7 people.

The electric architecture allows for a unibody construction integrating the chassis and batteries positioned low to improve the center of gravity. A definite advantage for off-road driving.

As Toyota aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup very shortly, it would not be surprising if this concept becomes a reality.
