Peugeot E-T16

Unveiled at the 2026 Motor Show, the Peugeot E-T16 reinvents the legendary 205 Turbo 16 as an electric vehicle. Spectacular, this concept nonetheless leaves a sense of regret compared to the Renault 5 Turbo 3E.

Some cars justify the trip to the Motor Show. The Peugeot E-T16 is one such car. With bulging fenders, a compact silhouette, and a spectacular spoiler: the Lion summons its glorious rally history with an electric interpretation of the 205 Turbo 16, world champion in 1985 and 1986. From the red stripe to the tilting rear body, the references are delightful. And the overall presence instantly transforms visitors into photographers. www.media.stellantis.com

Peugeot E-T16: three electric motors and 816 hp

Developed with Peugeot Sport, the E-T16 features three electric motors: one at the front, two at the rear. Cumulative power: 816 hp. Peugeot claims a 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a 0 to 300 km/h in 16 seconds. Supercar figures in the silhouette of a fierce small sports car.

The torque distribution between the wheels and specific battery cooling must allow the horsepower to be exploited on the track. Beyond the spectacle, the E-T16 also prepares for the upcoming Peugeot E-208, which it hints at certain features, notably the horizontal LED claws and the cockpit integrating the Hypersquare steering wheel.

Facing the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, the regret of the series

It is, however, difficult not to think of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. The Diamond brand dared to initiate the production of its electric extravagance, limited to 1,980 units. Peugeot currently has no marketing program for the E-T16.

This downside does not spoil the pleasure of encountering such an inspired Lion. But it fuels a frustration: why evoke such a legend so brilliantly if no one can take the wheel? The exercise is magnificent. Now it lacks that little industrial madness that would elevate the Peugeot E-T16 from a showroom dream to a collectible car.
