A New Aston Martin for James Bond

Comment
Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition

For 60 years, James Bond has sworn by Aston Martin to thwart the diabolical plans of the greatest villains around the world.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic partnership between Aston Martin and the James Bond film franchise, the British manufacturer is launching a limited edition DB12 Goldfinger, with only 60 units made. The 1964 film Goldfinger remains an endless source of inspiration for manufacturers, as Rolls-Royce also introduced a one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended inspired by the 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca de Ville owned by the film’s villain, Auric Goldfinger.

On the other hand, James Bond chose a car that has become an icon of the franchise, the Aston Martin DB5. But while the DB5 featured in Goldfinger was equipped with all the gadgets needed to escape Bond’s adversaries, the DB12 Goldfinger Edition only pays subtle homage to the film and the secret agent serving Her Majesty.

Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing a staggering 680 horsepower, the car is presented in the iconic Silver Birch color, which dressed the 1964 DB5, enhanced with gold accents on the air intakes. The DB12 Goldfinger Edition is equipped with 21-inch multi-spoke silver wheels with a diamond finish and a unique Aston Martin logo in silver and black enamel. Crowned with a chrome “Q” badge on the fenders, it confirms that this DB12 is a very special unit. Highly present in the interior across various controls, 18-karat gold is found even in the carbon elements of the dashboard, with gold metallic fibers woven into the glossy 2×2 Twill carbon fiber.

A subtle nod for Bond enthusiasts: a “heart eight” (a card symbol) is embroidered on the driver’s sun visor, referencing the playing card seen during the final scene at the Miami pool in Goldfinger.
