The Moon is getting closer for Venturi!

NASA Venturi Moon

NASA has selected Venturi Astrolab as one of the two official suppliers of crewed lunar rovers for the Artemis program.

This strategic decision also places Venturi Space at the heart of astronauts’ return to the Moon. The future crewed lunar rover, named CLV-1 (Crewed Lunar Vehicle), is set to be deployed at the lunar South Pole by 2028. Developed from Astrolab’s FLEX platform, this compact vehicle is designed to transport astronauts and equipment while also being operable remotely during certain surface operations.

A major technological partner of the program, Venturi Space will provide three essential subsystems: hyper-deformable wheels, high-performance batteries, and the rover’s energy management system. These key components will enable the CLV-1 to operate in extreme conditions, with temperatures ranging from -240 °C to +130 °C and lunar nights lasting up to fourteen Earth days.

Objective Moon

The wheels developed by Venturi use materials specifically designed to absorb the irregularities of the lunar terrain and maintain optimal traction on the rugged surfaces of the South Pole. The batteries and their management system must ensure the rover’s autonomy and reliability during long phases of activity as well as during standby periods.

This selection by NASA marks a new chapter in the unique history of Venturi. Founded in Monaco in 1984, the brand first made a name for itself in the sports car market with GT coupes capable of competing with German and Italian benchmarks. After the legendary Venturi 200, 260 Atlantique, and 400 GT, the company gradually shifted its strategy towards electric mobility under the leadership of Gildo Pastor.

A pioneer in electric vehicles long before the current market boom, Venturi then diversified into speed records, zero-emission competitions, and extreme technologies, eventually creating Venturi Space to develop solutions for lunar exploration. This atypical trajectory now leads the Monegasque manufacturer from European roads… to the surface of the Moon.
