Polestar Enters a New Era of Embedded Intelligence

Polestar takes a new step in enhancing its in-car digital interface with Google Gemini.

The Swedish manufacturer of high-performance electric vehicles has announced the upcoming arrival of Google Gemini across its entire range, via a software update rolled out by Google. This evolution marks the gradual replacement of the current Google Assistant with a significantly more advanced version based on generative artificial intelligence.

Gemini was first unveiled to the public aboard the Polestar 5 at the Slush event in Helsinki. This major technology event allowed visitors to experience the capabilities of the new voice assistant in real-world conditions, integrated directly into Polestar’s infotainment systems.

A traveling companion

Developed as an extension of Google Assistant, Gemini introduces smoother and more natural interactions with the vehicle. Its Gemini Live function allows users to engage in real conversations with the AI, express thoughts aloud, or receive continuous information simply by saying “Hey Google, let’s chat”. The stated goal is to facilitate access to information and enhance the continuity of exchanges while driving.

According to Polestar, the integration of Gemini is part of an ongoing effort to evolve the digital experience onboard. The manufacturer emphasizes enriched interaction, capable of assisting the driver beyond traditional commands for navigation, climate, or media.

Google emphasizes the continuity of a partnership that has been established for several years around embedded technologies. The arrival of Gemini in Polestar 5 marks an initial step before a broader deployment across all models.
