The Mercedes eActros 600 electric harvests in Champagne

In Champagne, the collection of liquid gold now takes place silently thanks to Mercedes’ electric giant.

For the 2025 harvest, Transports Lebrun deployed two Mercedes eActros 600 to collect the juice from presses and transport it to the cellars of a renowned house at Demoiselle. A first that combines grapevine tradition and electric modernity.

Accustomed to alternative solutions, the Champagne company — led by Matthieu Lebrun — tested the eActros last year during the harvest. The success of the trial convinced the carrier, a regional leader in food-grade tankers with 50 trucks and around a hundred tanks of various sizes, to take the step into electric.

Juice in the truck

For several weeks, these two eActros 600s patrolled the region from dawn to dusk, connecting estate after estate and press after press. Coupled with 19,000-liter mono-axle tanks or 33,000-liter three-axle tanks, they transport several thousand hectoliters of must daily, ensuring harvest continuity under the best conditions.

The real advantage of these trucks? Their silence. Where internal combustion engines imposed their noise, the eActros 600s are almost unnoticed. This discreetness surprised and delighted both winemakers and the teams at the champagne house. As a result, champagne logistics become cleaner, more sustainable, and ever more elegant.
