After more than a month of almost complete shutdown, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is finally seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

The Indian-British manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, hit in early September by a rare-scale cyberattack, confirmed the gradual resumption of its production starting this Wednesday. A return to normalcy expected as a true relief, both for employees and for the entire British automotive sector.

The first factories involved are those in Wolverhampton (engines) and Hams Hall (battery assembly). The sites in Castle Bromwich, Halewood, and Solihull will follow, where sheet metal and painting workshops will restart before the production lines of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport resume. The Slovak site in Nitra is also expected to restart its activities shortly thereafter.

Jaguar Land Rover Is Playing for Survival

But this gradual restart does not mean the end of difficulties. Experts estimate it will take several more weeks before a full return to normal. In parallel, Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled an emergency plan to support its most vulnerable suppliers. The company has implemented an accelerated payment system for its direct partners to quickly inject cash into the supply chain. A crucial measure, as some subcontractors have already been forced to lay off staff due to lack of income.

The figures released for the third quarter reveal the magnitude of the blow: wholesale sales dropped by 24%, and retail sales by 17%. Jaguar Land Rover describes the quarter as “particularly difficult”, marked both by the cyberattack, the end of production for certain models, and trade tensions with the United States.
