NIU SQi: An electric bike with the look of a small motorcycle
This page is translated from the original post "NIU SQi : un vélo électrique au look de petite moto" in French.

The SQi is currently exclusive to China, Niu’s domestic market.
It looks like a motorcycle, but it isn’t one. With its assistance limited to 25 km/h, the Niu SQi indeed belongs to the category of electric bikes. Its pedals, rather well hidden, are located between the swinging arm and the frame.
This unusual vehicle was introduced a few days ago. It complements Niu’s range, which already includes several scooters, a scooter, as well as another electric bike with a more traditional look but not without originality, the Niu EUB-0.
The SQi is equipped with a removable battery offering a theoretical range of 65 km. Niu offers an optional battery with slightly higher capacity, increasing the bike’s range to 75 km. A full charge takes about 5 hours.

Like the other two-wheelers from the Chinese manufacturer, the SQi is connected to an app providing information such as remaining range, previous routes, or the bike’s location. It features a large digital instrument display and retains the characteristic round LED headlight of the brand.
Currently, the Niu SQi is reserved for the Chinese market, but it is not impossible that it could be launched in other regions of the world someday. It is sold for 8,999 yuan in the base configuration, roughly €1,300. With the “big battery,” the price increases by about a hundred euros.
Will a Niu SQi soon be available as a 50 cc equivalent?
According to an internal source questioned by the American website Electrek, Niu might also offer a version capable of reaching 45 km/h. The SQi would then become a speed bike, or perhaps even a real small electric motorcycle if it lost its pedals in the process. It would then compete with the Super Soco TS Street Hunter, for example. It could also support the upcoming Niu RQi, which is expected to launch in 2023. Equipped with a 5 kW motor capable of reaching 110 km/h, this motorcycle will be homologated in the 125 cc equivalent category.
