At CES 2026, Bosch eBike Systems unveils a major innovation that could significantly impact the fight against electric bike theft.
The theft of e-bikes remains one of the main barriers to the adoption of electric bicycles. Anger, feelings of helplessness, and financial loss are often the only responses for victims, while thieves take advantage of a second-hand market that is difficult to control. Bosch eBike Systems aims to break this vicious circle with a new digital anti-theft protection presented at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
Starting at the end of January 2026, users will be able to report a stolen e-bike or battery directly within the eBike Flow app, free of charge. Once the bike is reported, the information becomes permanently visible across the entire Bosch digital ecosystem. As a result, the e-bike becomes practically unsellable.
Second-hand buyers, specialized resellers, and authorities can instantly check the status of a bike via the eBike Flow app. In the event of a connection attempt to a reported stolen e-bike, a warning is displayed and access is permanently blocked. No further updates, no personalized adjustments to assistance modes, and an automatic report also appears on the DiagnosticTool used by professionals.
Bosch wants to make reselling more difficult
This innovation is based on the principle of digital attribution of Bosch’s intelligent system. Each component – motor, battery, display – is linked to a unique user profile. The “stolen” marking is stored centrally and can only be removed by the legitimate owner, significantly enhancing traceability.
With this new feature, Bosch complements an already robust arsenal including eBike Lock, eBike Alarm, and Battery Lock, adding an additional deterrent layer that makes theft much less attractive.
Bosch eBike Systems goes further by also considering professionals. Fleets, rental companies, and bike-sharing services now benefit from advanced control functions, including remote deactivation of assistance, access to operational data, and integration with fleet management tools.
