New Mini Cooper Electric: Everything You Need to Know
This page is translated from the original post "Nouvelle Mini Cooper électrique : tout ce qu’il faut savoir" in French.

It will not be sold before spring 2024. But here the fifth generation of Mini Cooper is unveiled in a few photos. Under the long hood, there are two electric motors.
It was expected at the Munich Auto Show 2023 scheduled for the fall, but BMW did not wait to reveal the first images of its new Mini Cooper. Posing under the Los Angeles sun, this fifth generation retains the aesthetic cues dear to the British brand, namely round headlights, wheels at the corners, a traditional waistline, and small glass surfaces. However, the designers allowed themselves some bold touches: inclined windshield, beveled taillights, rectangular mirrors, and flush door handles… It’s not a revolution, but it looks like one!
While waiting for interior visuals (we only know that the Mini will incorporate Spike, a virtual dog as a digital assistant in its Cooper), we already know the technical sheet… and it’s quite tempting!

The keenest observers will notice that the Mini presented today bears the famous “S” badge. Yet, it has nothing to do with a combustion engine. Full grille, no exhaust outlets—it’s an electric version. Moreover, as mentioned above, two electric motors are on the menu.
Two power options and two ranges

The entry-level electric version will be called Cooper E and will feature an 184 hp electric motor, with a WLTP-rated range of 300 km. A good starting point, especially since the current Mini Electric does not exceed 234 km.
The high-end electric model is named Cooper SE. Under the hood, power increases to 218 hp, and the 54 kWh battery theoretically allows it to reach 400 km. Not bad for a “mini”. Note that initially, only 3-door body styles will be 100% electric.
