Paris 2024: The different cycling race routes unveiled
This page is translated from the original post "JO 2024 : Les différents parcours des épreuves cyclistes dévoilés" in French.

Starting July 27, 2024, road cycling events at the 2024 Olympics will begin. The time trial will be the same for women and men. For the road race, the course will be different.
Paris is a postcard, but it will be even more so with the various routes proposed for the 2024 Olympics. Athletes will traverse all corners of the City of Light, passing through Buttes-Chaumont, Montmartre, and the Opéra Garnier.
The Time Trial Course
Men and women will share the same course for the Olympic time trial. Cyclists will cover a distance of 32.4 km through the most beautiful areas of the capital. They will start from the Esplanade des Invalides to reach the Alexandre III Bridge. They will pass through Eastern Paris, including the Bois de Vincennes and Place de la Bastille.
There are no notable difficulties, aside from some tight turns within the city. The route is designed for the power riders, with notable contenders including Wout Van Aert, Stefan Küng, Remco Evenepoel, Filippo Ganna, and our French cyclist Rémi Cavagna.

Women’s and Men’s Courses
The anticipation was high for the routes of these two races at the 2024 Olympics. For the time trial, cyclists will start in eastern Paris, while for the road race, they will start in western Paris. The events will take place on August 3 and 4, 2024, one week after the time trial.
For the men’s race, three additional departments beyond Paris (75) will be included: Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines, and Essonne. The start will be at the Trocadéro Esplanade, with the finish at the same location. The route will be a 273-kilometer loop.
The men will pass in front of the Château de Versailles, while the women will cut the men’s circuit to head directly to the Chevreuse Valley.
The finish line of the race will be a 59 km course through the streets of the capital. Montmartre will be climbed three times by the riders before reaching the Trocadéro.
In terms of difficulty, men will face 10 climbs, compared to 6 for the women.
