Kia makes a slight effort on the EV9 pricing
Kia France has decided to introduce an entry-level trim for the Kia EV9, available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
The opening of orders for the new 100% electric large SUV EV9 on June 30th has certainly convinced Kia France to accelerate the marketing of an entry-level version. It is true that its family SUV, measuring 5 meters in length and weighing over 2.5 tons, is not exactly within everyone’s reach with prices starting up to 78,500 euros in the Earth Propulsion trim. A new basic trim called simply EV9 is therefore added to the two trims Earth and GT-line, which are already available to order.
Why ask for more than the essentials?
The new entry-level trim offers a well-equipped setup, including LED adaptive front headlights as standard, active highway driving assistance with steering wheel hand detection (HDA 2.0 with HOD), heated and ventilated front and second-row rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a triple panoramic screen.
The two variants of the EV9 trim, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, include a 99.8 kWh battery equipped with Kia’s fourth-generation technology. The rear-wheel-drive version is powered by a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor capable of delivering a maximum torque of 350 Nm, while the all-wheel-drive version benefits from two electric motors of 141 kW (total power 283 kW, 385 hp) providing a maximum torque of 250 Nm at the front and 350 Nm at the rear.
Prices proportional to the size of the Kia EV9
Price-wise, it still stings a bit since the Kia EV9 is now offered starting at 73,000 € for the rear-wheel-drive version, and from 80,000 € for the all-wheel-drive version. A reduction of 5,500 euros is good, but will it be enough?
