Vélotaf BikeToWork

The public establishment organized the fourth edition of « BikeToWork », its event dedicated to promoting cycle commuting.

Popularized during the pandemic, cycle commuting is an alternative to public transportation and car travel. For the fourth year, Paris La Défense hosted « BikeToWork » on Wednesday, September 20, and Thursday, September 21.

Part of the European Mobility Week, Paris La Défense and Mobility Makers (a community of sustainable mobility professionals) set up a village at the foot of the Arch dedicated to cycle commuting.

Over two days, participants could attend workshops to learn bicycle repairs, mark their bike against theft, answer a quiz on traffic rules, and try to win prizes, as well as attend a safety awareness session conducted by the local authorities.

Paris La Défense claims to welcome an average of 180,000 employees daily. To reduce congestion in public transportation and prevent increased car and motorized two-wheel vehicle usage, the establishment aims to encourage employees to choose cycle commuting. Since 2019, more than six kilometers of bike lanes have been created, along with 1,100 bike racks and 600 secure parking spaces in the territory’s parking facilities, according to Paris La Défense.
