More Power and Range for Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5

Volkswagen reveals elements of a comprehensive update to the hardware and software of the ID.4 and ID.5.

From now on, buyers who order one of these models will receive a vehicle equipped with a next-generation software and infotainment system, as well as an improved control concept. The touch sliders for adjusting the air conditioning and volume are now illuminated. The augmented reality head-up display has been refined, and a new premium Harman Kardon 480-watt audio system has been introduced. In the ID.4 with the “Pro” and “Gtx” versions, as well as on the ID.5 models, the high-efficiency powertrain that is both more efficient and more powerful than the ID.7 provides additional dynamism and driving pleasure. Paired with the “Pro” models, the new powertrain develops an output of 210 kW (286 hp); the “Gtx” versions deliver 250 kW (340 hp).

More power and greater efficiency. The gain in power and torque is substantial; the example of the 210 kW versions shows this well: compared to previous models, power increases by 60 kW and maximum torque by 235 Nm, reaching a total of 545 Nm, which is an increase of over 75 percent. Although the “Pro” and “Gtx” models have gained significantly in power, energy consumption has also decreased. The WLTP combined range of the versatile electric SUV ID.4 has been increased to 550 kilometers1 (WLTP) thanks to the new electric motor. The coupe SUV ID.5 can now travel up to 556 kilometers WLTP on a single battery charge.

More comfort and even greater safety. As with the ID.7, the new drivetrain is accompanied by a new suspension setup. The tuning of the optional adaptive chassis control has been refined, and the dynamic behavior management system has been configured to offer an even better balance between comfort and dynamism. The ID.4 and ID.5 will also be the first ID models to benefit from an optional door opening warning system that alerts when the front doors are opened if a bicycle, motorcycle, or car approaches from behind.
