A Ferrari Testarossa massacred by Gas Monkey Garage
This page is translated from the original post "Une Ferrari Testarossa massacrée par Gas Monkey Garage" in French.

Attention, eyes! American tuner Gas Monkey Garage, famous for its Fast N’Loud builds, has taken on a poor Ferrari Testarossa.
Richard Rawlings, the highly publicized head of Gas Monkey Garage, isn’t like everyday people. He woke up one morning thinking: I’m going to buy a wrecked 1980s Ferrari Testarossa and, instead of restoring it, I’ll cut off the roof, paint it white, replace its magnificent 12-cylinder engine with an electric motor, and add a central driver’s seat inspired by McLaren F1. A nightmare? No, because this “Teslarossa” was showcased at the specialized show Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) in Las Vegas.

The 4.9-liter “boxer” 12-cylinder engine of the Ferrari makes way in this unique prototype for an electric motor of 225 kW, compared to 272 kW for its thermal counterpart. It is powered by a custom 84.6 kWh battery, offering an estimated range between 274 and 362 km and an 6.6 kW AC charging on a 220-volt outlet.
The roof disappears, and LED lighting appears on the grille and in the side air intakes. We would like to say that it’s elegant, or at least impressive, but honestly…

The preparation of this car can be followed on Gas Monkey Garage’s YouTube channel. It’s up to you to decide whether it was really necessary to sacrifice a Testarossa to bring this monster to life, which still makes us think more of a child’s bed than the unforgettable white Testarossa of Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs in Miami Vice.
