Ora is no longer Funky and is currently in high demand in France.
Great success in the UK, the GWM Ora Funky Cat recently renamed Ora 03 is still not announced in France where it was supposed to debut at the end of 2023.
Taking its name from the Great Wall of China in English, Great Wall Motors is one of the ten largest Chinese manufacturers. It has sold over 10 million cars since its inception. Inevitably, like its peers, the manufacturer has decided to venture into the European market and chose the Ora Funky Cat, recently renamed simply Ora 03, for this. Pity because its playful, animal-inspired charm was quite appealing to us.
This car, like other models, is 100% electric and has been available in China since late 2020. Measuring 4.23 meters long, it is comparable in size to a Renault Megane E-Tech or a Volkswagen ID.3. Its style is a mix of Porsche 356 and Nissan LEAF, but the overall look is not unpleasant. The interior is more distinctive, with a simple dashboard featuring retro touches, and a dual-screen in a single unit.
Under its bodywork, the Ora 03 features a 107 kW (145 hp) motor and a 126 kW (173 hp) GT version. The electric car offers a choice of 48 kWh LFP or 59 kWh NMC batteries, providing a range of 400 to 500 km in the Chinese cycle. Its charging power reaches up to 80 kW, meaning approximately 40 minutes to go from 15% to 80%.

Across the Channel, it is available in a 126 kW and 48 kWh “Funky Cat First Edition” fully equipped version. Over there, the Ora 03 is priced at £31,995, which is over 37,600 euros.
With more affordable finishes, its base price was expected to fall below 35,000 euros here. The 2023 launch was missed, probably due to the rules for the Green Bonus, but perhaps we will see it in 2024.
