We know the price of the Polestar 4, and it’s a bit steep!

Polestar has big ambitions for its coupe SUV, whether in terms of performance, features, and very logically, pricing.

The Polestar 4 is now officially on sale in Europe. After the start of production and the first deliveries in China at the end of 2023, sales on the Old Continent begin with an indicative starting price of €63,200. The first deliveries are expected from August. It’s quite expensive for this segment, but the model is certainly interesting.

The Polestar 4 brings to life some style elements first shown on the Precept concept car. Notably, the disappearance of the rear window, which will likely unsettle second-row passengers to whom Polestar promises an “immersive experience.” Passengers are enveloped in an intimate environment with electrically adjustable seats. Ambient lighting, inspired by the solar system, allows customization of the environment. Whether this can replace real light remains to be seen… In doubt, claustrophobic passengers should skip it.

Based on the premium Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform developed by its parent company Geely, the Polestar 4 is a coupe-style SUV with a long 3-meter wheelbase paired with a flat floor, ensuring optimal interior space. It measures 4,840 mm in length and 1,534 mm in height, with an especially impressive width of 2,139 mm. The interior space is excellent, but parking in city centers with such dimensions might be challenging!

A significant aerodynamic work has been done on this model, including retractable door handles, flush glass without frames, and a rear extractor. The pursuit of range involves reducing air resistance, and Polestar aims to be at the forefront of this complex science of airflow management. One wonders about the sensibility of 20 to 22-inch wheel rims, especially since the wheels don’t appear to have dynamic hubcaps. Sacrificing some range for style seems questionable when so much effort is put into design!

The model is available with a single motor front-wheel drive with 272 horsepower or a dual motor with 544 horsepower. In both cases, nearly 600 km of range are promised thanks to a long-range 100 kWh battery. Bi-directional charging and V2L are included, as well as the standard heat pump.

Polestar spares no expense on the interior equipment with an infotainment system powered by Android Automotive OS and the Snapdragon Cockpit platform on a 15.4-inch landscape-oriented screen. Close collaboration with Google allows Polestar to continue pushing the boundaries of the embedded system.

An optional Harman Kardon audio system features 12 speakers and a 1,400-watt hybrid channel amplifier. Two additional speakers are added at each front seat with the optional Nappa pack, bringing the total to 16. Naturally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.

The driver faces a sleek 10.2-inch screen. To reduce distractions, a head-up display with a 14.7-inch projection zone relays essential information on the windshield. An ingenious “snow mode” feature switches the text color from white to yellow to improve visibility in very bright environments.

The single-motor version starts at €63,200, and the dual-motor version goes up to €71,200. All prices and options are detailed in the Polestar 4 online configurator. The French version is not yet available, but it should be soon online.
