80,000 euros for a Renault in the C-segment, whose design dates back more than 10 years now. In a sense, this is the achievement that very low-mileage used Mégane RS has managed to accomplish today.

The Best GTI in History?

The Renault Mégane RS has long challenged the highly competitive and demanding GTI category. Against the Volkswagen Golf, Leon Cupra, Ford Focus, Hyundai i20, or Peugeot 308, the fight was intense. One region particularly loves these wild compact cars: the United Kingdom. There, the French model has consistently been named the best GTI in the world. This has always motivated Renault to develop increasingly refined and extreme versions. Such as the Ultime edition introduced in 2023, priced starting at 53,450 euros.

To this, one had to add the 40,000 euros in taxes, bringing the total to nearly 100,000 euros… for a mass-produced Renault. Incredible! Under the hood, there was a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Power was sent to the front wheels via a dual-clutch EDC transmission and a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential. 0 to 100 km/h was achieved in 5.7 seconds, and as a bonus, the rear wheels were steerable. It was designed to dominate racing circuits and winding roads.
