Some Tesla Semis will be assembled in Berlin

No need to remind you that large trucks are in fashion right now. A boon for the Tesla Semi.

The energetic Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, personally visited his Gigafactory in Berlin to celebrate the resumption of production after the sabotage that brought the giant factory to its knees. Nine days ago, a deliberate fire on a high-voltage electrical pole near the production site caused a widespread power outage last Tuesday, which also affected some districts of Berlin.

With a T-shirt from the brand on his back and his son on his shoulders, Musk addressed a crowd that was naturally fully supportive of him. The priority was to reassure his staff as quickly as possible of his intention to continue developing the site despite increasingly fierce threats and intimidation from the most radical environmentalists and far-left factions.

He also mentioned the possibility of producing Tesla semi-trailers at the factory. “I think it’s logical to produce the Tesla Semi in Europe at Giga Berlin”, Musk stated. Currently, the factory has an annual production capacity of 375,000 vehicles per year, which is expected to increase to 500,000 units in the coming months.

Tesla aims for 1 million units annually starting in 2026, hence the urgency to increase the site’s capacity. Between the low-cost Model 2 project and this likely arrival of the Semi, a few additional square meters will not be too many!
