Peugeot E-5008, Electric Grandeur

Peugeot renews its family SUV with 7 seats, highlighting 100% electric versions.

The new Peugeot E-5008 adopts the styling cues and interior of its smaller sibling, the E-3008, but in XXL version. As minivans are no longer trendy, it plays heavily on SUV codes, and it must be acknowledged that it suits this style quite well. The relatively high waistline and pronounced shoulders give it a robust silhouette, as do its generous dimensions. Farewell to the civil van of yesteryear. With a length of 4.79 m, a width of 1.89 m, and a height of 1.69 m, this new 5008 is gaining some weight. A necessary evil to stand up to its two main rivals, the Renault Espace and the Skoda Kodiaq, which measure 4,722 mm and 4,758 mm respectively.

The Best of Peugeot

Nothing surprising inside, where the interior mirrors that of the 3008, with the curved panoramic i-Cockpit screen of 21 inches. On the left side of the screen, the instrument cluster gathers, above the small compact steering wheel, all driving-related information (speed, power meter, driver assists, energy flow…). On the right side of the panoramic screen, at the center of the dashboard, the touch interface is accessible to both the driver and passenger. It manages the heating/air conditioning systems, navigation, media/connectivity, etc. The new commands on the steering wheel are also noteworthy. They automatically detect the driver’s fingers but only activate when pressed, to avoid accidental operations. Behind the wheel, there are paddles for regenerative braking.

The center dashboard features the famous i-Toggles, fully customizable touch buttons that allow quick access to 10 user-preferred functions. The entire interior exudes seriousness and modernity, with high-end materials that are pleasant both visually and tactilely.

Priority to Electricity

Designed as a native electric model, the new E-5008 benefits from a range of zero-emission powertrains offering between 500 and 660 km of autonomy, as well as a delightful and unexpected all-wheel-drive Dual Motor version. The two-wheel-drive versions deliver 157 kW (210 hp) or 170 kW (230 hp). The all-wheel-drive variant with two motors provides a combined power of 237 kW, or 320 horsepower. With two-thirds of the torque on the front wheels, this highly spirited E-5008 already appeals to us greatly!

The E-5008 benefits from Stellantis’s new STLA Medium platform, in an extended configuration compared to the E-3008. No revolutionary changes in the battery side, with a 400V structure and a capacity announced up to 98 kWh. We will have to wait a little longer to learn about the various configurations. The heat pump is standard. For AC charging, two types of onboard chargers are available, suited for all user needs and charging solutions, with a standard 11 kW three-phase charger and an optional 22 kW three-phase charger. For DC fast charging via superchargers, the new E-5008’s Mode 4 socket accepts up to 160 kW. This allows regaining 100 km of range in just 10 minutes and charging from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes.

7 seats that change everything

The new E-5008 offers from 2 to 7 seats with a huge loading capacity. The second row features individual seats that can fold into a 60/40 bench with 40/20/40 split. The headrests are adjustable independently over 5 levels for passenger comfort on long trips. The third row consists of a genuine bench with two independent adjustable headrest seats. It is possible to fold down entirely and slide the second-row seats forward, greatly improving access to the third row. Combined with the wide opening provided by the large rear doors, this system allows passengers of all sizes to easily access the third row thanks to the constant headroom throughout the interior length.

The E-5008 provides a trunk volume of 259 liters in 7-seat configuration, 748 liters in 5-seat configuration, and up to 1,815 liters in 2-seat setup. The layout options are numerous thanks to the modularity of the second row (60/40 bench, 40/20/40 split) and third row (50/50 seats). When all rear seats are folded, the new E-5008 offers a flat floor and 2 meters of cargo length. Lastly, the trunk floor behind the third row can open, be stored vertically behind the seats, freeing up an additional deep space of 80 liters for luggage or golf bags.

As with the entire new range, this new E-5008 benefits from the “PEUGEOT Allure Care” program, which covers the electric motor, charger, powertrain, and key electrical and mechanical components for up to 8 years / 160,000 km. The PEUGEOT Allure Care coverage for the new E-5008 is automatically activated for 2 years or 25,000 km after each service performed within the PEUGEOT network.
