Get Ready to Encounter These Electric Amazon Vans

Amazon has already deployed over 13,500 units of these electric delivery vans in the United States, which are arriving in Europe.

Amazon has committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040. As part of this commitment, the online retailer announced a partnership with Rivian to put 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030.

In just three short years, a simple sketch has transformed into a customized electric delivery vehicle. Amazon began deploying its electric delivery vans in summer 2022 and now has over 13,500 vehicles tirelessly patrolling American roads. To date, Amazon’s Rivian vehicles have delivered over 580 million parcels across the United States.

The European rollout will begin in Germany where 300 units are expected very soon. Since the roads and urban areas of the Old Continent are quite different from those in North America, European vans will be slightly smaller than their US counterparts. We are still talking about nice babies over 6 meters long with a cargo volume of 15 m3.

The design of these models, simply named EDV (Electric Delivery Van), focuses on safety thanks to a 360-degree view provided by a large panoramic windshield and a comprehensive set of cameras. Driver and pedestrian safety is guaranteed by a full suite of ADAS, the famous driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and collision warnings.

Small nice details, the driver’s seat is ventilated to prevent overheating, and the large electric sliding side door automatically opens when Amazon drivers reach their delivery location to speed up the operation.
