Tesla: The Ongoing Saga of €700 Hubcaps in Canada

The Canada is the new market to benefit from the dark gray plastic Tesla wheel covers. Unfortunately, they are priced at 1000 Canadian dollars.

Learning from mistakes is always a sign of intelligence. At Tesla, provocation is the norm. While some markets have already been criticized for their outrageous pricing of the plastic wheel cover option charged at 500 dollars (notably in the United States), here we go again.

Quickly, in the United States, Tesla revised its approach and decided to offer these plastic Gemini wheel covers in 19 inches as standard on its Model Y, which are identical to the previous ones… except for the anthracite gray color. That is to say, a few grams of additional color flair.

680 euros in Canada!

On Tesla’s online store, these same new wheel covers are sold individually for 35 dollars (33 euros) each. But at Tesla, they don’t care about the lack of consistency as long as the customer (sucker?) falls into the trap. Thus, in Canada, where these wheel covers are now offered, you have to go through the options catalog where they are priced at 1000 Canadian dollars. If we convert it using the American dollar, this amounts to 727 dollars, or 680 euros, which is 170 euros per wheel cover!
