This electric Maserati convertible is a tribute… to wine!
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, an Italian red wine, Maserati has designed a customized version of its GranCabrio Folgore.
When you’ve been raised with “Drink or drive, you must choose”, Maserati’s approach is not exactly obvious, let’s admit it. However, the earthy and garnet hues of its bodywork and upholstery inspired by rows of vines containing the precious nectar are anything but unpleasant. This creation straight from the Maserati Fuoriserie workshops, the customization division of Maserati, is stunning, there’s no doubt about that, so why this homage?

Maserati collaborated for this creation with Marchesi Antinori, a family-owned winery from Florence established for nearly 650 years in Tuscany and passed down through 26 generations. The inspiration for this car thus comes from the vineyard, metaphor for roots and territory.
The body of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello features a Terra di Tignanello paint inspired by the soil of the vineyard, enhanced by a copper burgundy accent. The wheels and calipers are in matte and glossy black respectively, while the emblems are in copper, with a shiny copper Maserati logo against a glossy background. The soft top fabric is also black.

The seats are made of leather adorned with a multi-material ribbed weave in silver and burgundy, made of Vegea, an innovative stretch fabric derived from vineyards. It recalls the rows of vines on the Tignanello hillside, marked by the clear rocks. The bog oak is noble and abundant in the interior, and several embroideries and engravings repeat the sun present on the Tignanello labels unchanged for half a century.

But a Maserati is above all and mostly a car. This one rests on a 100% electric 800-volt architecture. The 92.5 kWh battery powers three independent electric motors, one at the front and two at the rear, developing a combined power of 750 hp.
This unique example will be auctioned on July 14 in California during the Arts for All gala at the Napa Valley Festival, one of the main artistic charity events in the United States.
