Citroën unveils the Ami 2025 and a Buggy version

Citroën unveils, at the Paris Motor Show, a refreshed version of its license-free phenomenon, the Ami, as well as a beach version.
Already 4 years of success for the incredible Citroën Ami, a true social phenomenon sold in over 65,000 units. Many have mocked this concept of electric microcar, yet it has proven to be a hit, especially among young people aged 14 and over who have abandoned scooters to get to middle or high school.
In front of some schools, there are entire parking lots full of Citroën Ami cars parked. This strengthens Stellantis’ desire to develop new versions. The Fiat Topolino is one of these, with a retro look and a very nice pastel green color. Opel is also launching its Rocks-e in Germany (watch out for trademark territories).

A slightly different 2025 version
With its speed limited to 45 km/h and a real range of 50 kilometers, the Citroën Ami is perfect and inexpensive. With a 36-month lease, it costs on average only 100 euros/month. With its symmetrical front-rear design, by concern for development cost, the French car has understood everything, while historic rivals like Ligier or Aixam often cost over 15,000 euros. Despite everything, the Ami had a few minor flaws, including lighting deemed “limited” by users at night. The new headlights seem to address this concern with a slightly modified look. The same goes for the rear.
Fogging on all windows in rainy weather was also a complaint that annoyed many, but Citroën does not specify improvements in this area. The same goes for the childlike ability to open the door, even when locked, via the cable accessible from the wheel arches. You pull on it and the Ami suffers, preventing you from leaving anything in the cabin, even for a few moments.
A version designed for the beach
To now show off after school, Citroën presents what is still a concept of a Buggy, but we know it is very close to commercialization. Doors reduced to their simplest expression, canvas roof, playful color, knobbly tires, and a light bar at the top of the windshield make for a fantastic impression. The other major novelty is the addition of cushions for better comfort, as the Ami is relatively stiff in suspension.
Let’s hope this Buggy version will be marketed before summer 2025, in order to enjoy the sunny days. Citroën has an extraordinary goldmine with the Ami, and it is now about protecting it from competition, with Renault leading the way with its Mobilize Duo still not launched after two years of promises.
