Renault Embleme

Presented at the last Auto World Show, the Renault Emblème concept car is much more than a show model.

Symbolizing Renault’s commitment to a more environmentally friendly and resource-conscious automobile, the Renault Emblème was one of the major attractions at the last Auto World Show. Primarily for its look, of course, which gives an idea of what tomorrow’s electric Renault sedan could look like. A style that sharply breaks with the latest SUVs the diamond badge brand has been serving us almost to excess in recent years. Returning to a lower, more urban style can only be a positive step in the right direction.

But to have a chance of someday selling its series version, they needed to create a rolling family prototype that remains habitable, comfortable, and high-tech. In this regard, we were surprised at the show to see an unfinished interior. We initially thought it was due to lack of time, but it seems more likely that Renault deliberately kept it under wraps.

Today, we discover a completely innovative interior. It is above all notably minimalist and stripped down. Slightly livelier than that of a Tesla Model 3 Highland, but it’s not exactly a celebration either. A large screen runs across the entire width of the car with a display above the steering wheel similar to Peugeot’s i-cockpit. Many mocked the lion for this choice, but it seems it was the right call! This very wide screen allows the front passenger to have a clean digital interface. It’s not very elegant, but in terms of functionality, it must be a delight. Emblème retains a large central screen that appears dedicated to the increasingly prominent multimedia system in cars. A very wide central tunnel separates the front passengers. Finally, the steering wheel strongly reminds us of those from the Renault 11, between the simple model and the four-spoke Turbo version. The vintage inspiration is present, perhaps a bit too much, but that’s a matter of taste. So, what’s your opinion now?
