WWCOTY 2025

The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) is the only automobile award in the world evaluated exclusively by specialized women journalists.

This prestigious event does not just aim to reward the best cars of the year. It also seeks to give a voice to women in a sector often dominated by men. Created in 2009 by New Zealand automotive journalist Sandy Myhre, who is now honorary president, it is currently led by Marta García, executive president. The evaluation criteria are based on the essential aspects for every driver: safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, environmental impact, and value for money. The goal is not to select “cars for women,” but rather the models that excel in these areas.

For its 15th edition, the WWCOTY assembled a jury of 82 journalists from 55 countries across five continents. This year, 81 models launched in at least two continents or 40 countries between January and December 2024 competed in eight categories: Urban Model, Compact SUV, Large Sedan, Large SUV, 4×4 and Pickup, Luxury and Performance Car, Best Technology, and the Sandy Myhre Award recognizing the most committed brand towards women.

Among the 2025 winners, the Mini Cooper stands out as the Best Urban Model for its agility and style, while the Kia EV3, a 100% electric SUV, shines in the Compact SUV category. The Audi A6 e-tron, a refined electric sedan, is crowned Best Large Sedan. The Hyundai Santa Fe, spacious and versatile, triumphs as the Large SUV. The Toyota Land Cruiser is recognized as the Best 4×4 for its off-road capabilities. Lastly, the Porsche Panamera wins the Luxury and Performance Car award for its outstanding performance.

The Best Technology award goes to BYD, notably for its revolutionary Blade battery, while the Sandy Myhre Award is given to Volvo, recognized for its commitment to gender equality and safety.

The six finalists announced will compete for the ultimate title of Car of the Year, which will be revealed on March 6, 2025, two days before International Women’s Day, on WWCOTY’s YouTube channel. These awards are a true benchmark for millions of buyers worldwide.
