Verne Robotaxi Zagreb

Verne has officially launched the very first commercial robotaxi service on the continent in the streets of Zagreb.

Thanks to Verne, it is now possible to book and pay for autonomous rides in Zagreb via the Verne app. Through a recent strategic partnership, this service will also soon be integrated into the Uber app, making this technology more accessible to the public.

The deployed vehicles are electric models equipped with Pony.ai’s seventh-generation autonomous driving system. Although the rides are autonomous, trained operators will remain on board during the initial deployment phase to ensure optimal safety.

An international ambition

Marko Pejković, co-founder and CEO of Verne, emphasized the importance of this milestone: “For the first time in Europe, there is a real commercial robotaxi service. We announced a launch in Zagreb for 2026; it’s now a reality. This is just the beginning.”

The current service area covers key districts of the Croatian capital, but expansion is already underway. The ultimate goal is to shift to fully driverless operations once reliability criteria are validated by the authorities.

Inspired by the vision of Jules Verne, the company does not intend to stop there. Discussions for obtaining permits are already underway with 11 other cities across the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Ultimately, Verne will deploy its own bespoke vehicle: a two-seat robotaxi designed exclusively for autonomous urban transport, thereby redefining our daily commuting experience.
