Will PSG players soon use electric scooters?

The scene is just magical: over 80 American football players goofing around on electric balance bikes on a field!

This isn’t a joke, but the electric end-of-season gifts given by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to his teammates. Brand new CAKE Makka scooters for each team member. It’s an easy comparison with European footballers leaving their training centers in expensive sports cars, but here, it’s electric, lightweight, and original.

These small Swedish beauties, launched in 2021, combine sleek design and modern technology. With a 3.6 kW motor and a top speed of 45 km/h, they are perfect for city commuting and do not require a motorcycle license. But on a football field? Not so effective. However, the video of the Cowboys joyfully zigzagging on the field is enough to bring a smile. Especially when you know that most of these beauties weigh over a hundred kilograms. In terms of autonomy, the 1.5 kWh battery allows for about 50 km, which is more than enough for a city ride or a quick detour for post-training tacos.

The Tampa-based brand’s distributor collaborated with Dak Prescott to customize each Makka with the jersey number on the scooter and a Cowboys-colored cap to complete the look. This nod is both an aesthetic gesture and a symbolic one, especially since CAKE, after facing bankruptcy, saw its stock bought by EMOTO to become their service partner in North America.

Unexpected gift or a publicity stunt for electric mobility? Whatever the case, the enthusiastic reactions from the players show that you don’t necessarily need hundreds of horsepower costing hundreds of thousands of dollars to enjoy yourself.
