Poissy: a full-scale test of free-floating electric scooters!

Starting May 2nd in Poissy, and for six months, Tier’s shared electric scooter service will be available to all adult users.

Tier Mobility, in agreement with the Grand Paris Seine and Oise Urban Community, will operate in the city of Poissy for six months. From May 2nd, all individuals over the age of eighteen who can verify their age will be able to use the Tier electric scooter service during this period. To do so, the app is implementing an identity document recognition system with facial recognition.

Poissy aims to test a sustainable micro-mobility project in addition to the existing bus network to cover “the first or last mile of a journey.” The city has selected the Tier service to operate its free-floating electric scooters.

Tier Mobility is one of the three main players in micromobility within the Paris region, alongside Dott and Lime. Overall, the brand is present in over 410 cities across 20 countries worldwide. Additionally, with the ban of shared scooters in Paris, Tier needs to explore new markets to redirect its 5,000 scooters in the city.

In Poissy, expect to see these small vehicles near train stations and designated parking areas starting next week!

How is scooter rental done in Poissy?

First, be aware that scooters will be forbidden for those under 18, with identity verification via facial recognition. The entire scooter fleet will be registered to allow for potential fines in case of violations.

Next, scooters will be parked at specific locations, similar to other cities that have shared scooters. You will be charged 25 € if you park your Tier scooter outside these designated parking areas.

Additionally, Tier will equip one-third of its vehicles with helmets for increased user safety. The Tier app will send safety messages to users at the start of each ride via the app. Note that some traffic signs only apply to bicycles and other electric personal transport devices (EPDM).

Finally, in Poissy, the maximum speed limit is 20 km/h. In certain sensitive areas, the limit will be reduced to 10 km/h. These areas include around the train station, Jean-Jaurès Middle School, and along the Seine. However, riding is strictly prohibited in the following locations:

• Béthemont Hamlet
• La Bidonnière Hamlet
• Meissonier Park
• Avenue du Bon Roi Saint-Louis

Tier Scooter Rental Prices

App users can rent a scooter via a subscription or hourly rate. The hourly rate is €1 to unlock the scooter, then €0.20 per minute thereafter. Tier bicycles are available at the same unlocking price, then €0.23 per minute. Calculate your costs carefully based on your travel needs!
