The Île-de-France cable car is extending its cable
The C1 Cable, the first urban cable car in Île-de-France, reaches a crucial milestone with the installation of the final meters of cable.
This aerial link Cable C1 will connect, by the end of 2025, the municipalities of Créteil, Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton, and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, covering a total distance of 4.5 km and five strategic stations.

Designed to connect Val-de-Marne, the C1 responds to needs for quick, eco-friendly mobility that are adapted to local constraints. Obstacles such as railway lines, national roads, and industrial zones led to the choice of a cable car, a solution that is less expensive and quicker to implement than a tram line. Ultimately, 11,000 travelers will benefit daily from this silent, innovative mode of transport integrated into the Île-de-France fare system.
Modern and Friendly
The five stations – Pointe du Lac (Créteil), Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton, La Végétale (Limeil-Brévannes), and Villa Nova (Villeneuve-Saint-Georges) – have been designed to be fully accessible. Their architecture harmoniously blends into the environment through the use of simple materials and green roofs. The service will operate from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm on weekdays, with extended hours on weekends.
The cable installation took place in three phases between summer 2024 and February 2025. A new-generation support-tow cable, made of metallic strands and synthetic profiles, was installed. This innovative design ensures robustness, durability, and noise reduction. The final section linking Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton, and La Végétale was completed at the end of February 2025, with a 60-meter splice to close the cable loop.
Funded with 138 million euros by the Île-de-France Region (49%), the State (21%), and the Val-de-Marne Department (30%), the C1 is supported by Île-de-France Mobilités. The design and construction are managed by a consortium including Doppelmayr, Egis Rail, and other partners, demonstrating a collective effort for a pioneering sustainable mobility project.
