The Navigo pass will arrive on iPhone very soon

It has been awaited for months now. After Android smartphone users in 2022, iPhone users will finally be able to benefit from the Navigo pass on their phone. 

This new feature was supposed to be implemented during summer 2023, but unfortunately, that was not the case. According to L’informé, the two entities handling the project, Apple and Île-de-France Mobilité, have aligned on the final points. The arrival of the Navigo Pass on iPhones is expected to begin at the start of 2024. 

A Long Wait 

For several months now, Android smartphone users can use their phones to pass through the security gates leading to the RER or metro. However, iPhone users have not yet had this opportunity. This should be equalized in the coming months, according to our colleagues at L’informé. What is the cause of this delay? According to the media, the past few months have been marked by legal and political issues. 

The Famous NFC Chip 

The NFC chip is mandatory for possessing the Navigo pass on your phone. Today, almost all the latest mobile devices have this chip integrated. The Navigo pass will be available in your widget or virtual wallet present on your phone, specifies the media. You may be familiar with this application, as it is possible to add a bank card, for example.

However, it is already possible to recharge your Navigo Pass on your Android phone or iPhone, without having to use the kiosks located in train stations.
