The Paris Metro has incredible talent!

Every year, the competition is fierce to become a Metro musician and perform in the stations and stops of the Île-de-France region.

Singing in the Paris Metro is not available to everyone. Nearly a thousand established or novice artists present themselves at auditions every six months, and only 300 are selected to be authorized to perform legally in certain stations. They are all part of the “Metro Musicians” program.

The auditions for the “Metro Musicians” will take place from September 19 to October 12. The jury is usually composed of RATP agents, with a special session occurring on the afternoon of September 26 in the presence of industry professionals.

During their audition, artists will perform two pieces of their choice and discuss their motivations with the jury. In addition to musical criteria, particular attention is paid to ensuring a variety of styles.

What are the “Metro Musicians”?

The program, created in 1997, serves several purposes:

• to offer travelers quality musical entertainment,
• to bring forth young talents,
• to provide them with a springboard by allowing them to participate in festivals and events such as Solidays, Art’Rock, or We love Green.

The “Metro Musicians” have helped launch the careers of recognized artists such as Lââm, Keziah Jones, Ben Harper, Dany Brillant, Manu Dibango, and more recently Zaz, Anis, Arcadian, Claudio Cappéo, William Baldé, Pep’s, and Alessandro Valderrama, a finalist on the show “France’s Got Talent” in 2021.
