The casting for the Musicians of the Metro is open
This page is translated from the original post "Le casting des Musiciens du métro est ouvert" in French.

From September 19 to October 12, the auditions for the “Metro Musicians” are back! After these selections, 300 musicians will earn the precious ticket that allows them to perform in stations and train stations across Île-de-France.
Whether it’s wild with famous accordion players, or official with modern and classical groups performing in stations, musical entertainment has always been part of the history of the Paris metro. To the point that competition is fierce to join the “Metro Musicians”, a program allowing musicians to perform officially in stations across Île-de-France. Out of the thousands of artists auditioning every 6 months (both established and beginners), only 300 are selected!
During their audition, artists will perform two pieces of their choice and will discuss with the jury about their motivations for joining the large family of “Metro Musicians”.
In addition to criteria of musical quality and candidates’ motivation, special attention is paid to respecting a diversity of styles.
What are the “Metro Musicians”?
300 artists are selected twice a year through auditions. They are authorized to perform free of charge in certain stations and train stations within the Île-de-France Mobilités network operated by RATP. All of them are part of the “Metro Musicians” program.
Created in 1997, it serves several objectives:
- Offer travelers quality musical entertainment to enhance their travel time;
- Support emerging young talents;
- Allow them to perform in the spaces of the metro and RER, where many travelers pass each day;
- Provide a platform by enabling them to participate in festivals and events sponsored by RATP (Solidays, Art’Rock, We Love Green, etc.).
The “Metro Musicians” have helped launch the careers of renowned artists such as Keziah Jones, Lââm, Dany Brillant, Manu Dibango, Touré Kounda, Ben Harper, and more recently Anis, William Baldé, Pep’s, Zaz, Claudio Cappéo, Arcadian, and Alessandro Valderrama, a finalist of the show “France Has Incredible Talent” in December 2021.
