RER NG Paris

After a first order of 131 RER NG trains (new generation), Ile-de-France Mobilités is adding 35 more.

Billions are flowing, but nothing is too good right now to accelerate the ecological transition and encourage users to take the train to work. Thus, a second order, amounting to 650 million euros, has just been placed by Ile-de-France Mobilités for 35 additional trains.

To anticipate and ensure the extension of the line to Mantes-la-Jolie planned for the end of 2026, this order is intended to replace the old MI2N models on line E and the Z2N trains on line D. These new trains will complement the existing fleet on line D and increase transport capacity on the eastern and western sections of line E.

Ile-de-France Mobilités has sought the collaboration of Transilien SNCF Voyageurs and Alstom to ensure the delivery of these trains on schedule and their commissioning according to the established timeline.

The RER NG, which has been in service on line E since last November, adds to the fleet of new trains already in operation, including 360 “Franciliens” trains and the Régio2N, running on various lines throughout the Île-de-France region. Currently, more than 1,000 new or renovated trains and metros are in operation on the Île-de-France Mobilités network, including 14 RER NG on the RER E.

This year, around 160 new or renovated trains and metros will be integrated into service and operate throughout Île-de-France.
