The famous Italian automobile coachbuilder has partnered with Persico Marine to develop a 100% electric luxury speedboat.

Founded in Milan in 1919, Udo Zagato’s company leveraged its expertise in the aerospace industry to develop automotive projects, notably by paying attention to the weight of its creations with lightweight and aerodynamic cars.

Over the years, Zagato also became synonymous with producing beautiful Italian coachwork, but today it is in the nautical field that the Italian bodywork company is making a name for itself. It has entered into a partnership with Persico Marine, a private company specializing in yacht design and boat construction.

Their collaborative creation, the Persico Zagato 100.2, is a stunning vessel measuring 7.90 meters long, with a composite construction that limits weight to 2,500 kg. It features a sleek hull with smooth lines, a short windshield, a wooden deck, and a cockpit with two seats and digital instrumentation.

Andrea Zagato stated about the Persico Zagato 100.2 that “this project originated from a shared concept: that the boat should be a collector’s item. The latest and most innovative technologies available will make the boat sustainable and capable of leaving a distinctive mark, just as the most exclusive car models are crafted for uncommon clients—those who always seek excellence and innovation in all fields.”

One motor, but two batteries for the Persico Zagato 100.2

Technically, two versions of the Persico Zagato 100.2 will be offered: Sport and Long Range. The first features a 83 kWh battery and a 275 hp electric motor allowing cruising speeds of 26 knots and a top speed of 43.5 knots. In cruise mode, the range would be around 28 nautical miles.

The higher-end Long Range version receives an additional 83 kWh battery, with slightly reduced performance: cruising speed of 24 knots and maximum speed of 36 knots. However, the range jumps significantly, reaching nearly 47 nautical miles in cruise mode.

Only nine units of the Persico Zagato 100.2 will be built, and “each owner can personalize theirs in a unique and exclusive way.” Delivery is expected to begin at the end of 2023.
