Foiler Ghost, the 28-meter yacht that prefers to fly rather than sail

The Emirati yacht brand Foiler is the first to conceive a luxury and private boat equipped with foils that allow it to fly above the sea.

There are boats that move forward. There are those that glide. And now, there is one that flies. Unveiled at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show 2025, Ghost, the new yacht by Foiler and built by ENATA, is unlike anything typically seen in marinas.

Measuring 28 meters in length and 8 meters in width – nearly 20 meters when its massive foils are deployed – it presents itself as the first private yacht of its size capable of leaving the surface of the sea to rise nearly two meters above the water. A true nautical UFO, designed to break the codes of luxury yachting.

To understand Ghost, one must first know what sets it apart from all other yachts in its category: its ability to fly. Unlike a conventional hull that plows through water, the Ghost relies on foils, submerged wings that generate hydrodynamic lift. As speed increases, these wings literally lift the vessel until most of the hull is out of the water. The result is spectacular.

Drag drops, vibrations disappear and, suddenly, a 28-meter yacht moves with the lightness of a hydrofoil and the smoothness of a magnetic train. According to ENATA, Ghost can cruise between 30 and 35 knots (55 to 65 km/h), and exceed 40 knots (74.1 km/h) at peak speed, all while providing such stability that passengers can speak in hushed tones both inside and outside.

Ghost, an incredible cruising speed

This technical feat is only possible using materials from the aerospace industry. The hull and structure rely on a mix of carbon and titanium, both ultra-light and exceptionally rigid. This combination allows Ghost to withstand the enormous stresses associated with takeoff and maintaining flight. The entire setup makes the yacht an incredibly robust platform, designed to absorb the forces at high speeds just like an airplane absorbs turbulence.

Yet, Ghost is far from being a floating laboratory. Its interior offers 133 square meters of living space, along with an additional 52 square meters of exterior surfaces. There is a spacious living area flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that surround almost the entire superstructure.

The result is an almost transparent environment, where the sea is constantly present, an effect further enhanced when the boat takes off and appears to float in mid-air. The adaptable layout can accommodate three to five cabins and includes a true beach club at the back that opens to the sea.

And despite its architecture worthy of a science fiction film, Ghost can be piloted by its owner. ENATA has integrated its signature joystick, inherited from the Foiler 32, allowing an informed amateur to take the helm of a 28-meter yacht as if it were a 10-meter runabout. Everything is assisted, automated, and anticipated: the management of takeoff, flight altitude, and the balance of the foils.

The construction of the first Ghost is set to begin within twelve to eighteen months, with a launch expected in 2029. A date that could mark a turning point in yachting history, as Ghost is not just a spectacular object: it proposes a new way of moving at sea, quieter, more stable, more efficient.

However, it won’t be affordable for everyone, unfortunately.
