Navigone, the water shuttle that will transport the residents of Lyon

The first trips are scheduled for June 2025 and the Navigone will be available to all TCL subscription holders

An eco-friendly, pleasant mode of transportation that isn’t more expensive than any other. This is what the Lyon public transportation network TCL offers. Scheduled for summer 2025, this shuttle will operate on the Saône. It will serve Vaise-Industrie, Saint-Vincent quay, and Saint-Antoine quay. But also Confluence, on Wednesdays, weekends, public holidays, and during school vacations. It will be accessible to all TCL pass holders. Specific tickets will also be introduced, but no further details are available at this time.

The Navigone will accommodate 70 to 90 people and will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours. On weekends and during off-peak hours during the week, frequency will decrease to one shuttle per hour. Starting from April 2026, shuttle frequency is expected to increase. From that point on, they will run every fifteen minutes during peak hours and every thirty minutes at other times.

A fleet of electric boats completed by 2026

The Navigone will travel at speeds of 12 to 15 km/h and will allow reaching Saint-Antoine quay from Vaise-Industrie in a maximum of 20 minutes. Initially, the line will be operated with motorized thermal boats. The company Les Yachts de Lyon will run the line. They have been managing pleasure boats on the Saône, including the Vaporetto, for over 10 years, operating in the heart of Lyon.

Two thermal-powered boats will initially serve the line, before being replaced by two electric boats in October 2025. Then, starting in April 2026, two new electric boats will join the fleet, which will grow to a total of four boats. This number will be sufficient to ensure daily shuttle service, as the longest trips are not expected to exceed 20 minutes.
