Candela C-8 Electric: For Smooth and Ocean-Friendly Sailing!

To sail quickly and without being too tossed by the waves, Candela offers hydrofoil boats with 100% electric technology. Its new Candela C-8 can reach up to 50 nautical miles.

Based in Sweden, and more precisely in the Stockholm region, Candela has been specialized in the development and manufacturing of electric hydrofoils since 2016.

Their first production model is called Candela C-7, and stands out for its carbon fiber construction for the hull, deck, and deck hardware. Equipped with retractable thrusters for towing and storage, the electric Candela C-7 can reach 30 knots and can be charged using a standard blue CEE 230V/16A socket in 12 hours.

Today, the new model is called Candela C-8, an electric boat that primarily glides above the water thanks to hydrofoils. It crosses oceans and seas with less resistance, leaving minimal wake behind it.

A high-tech boat

Another feature is its real-time balancing thanks to a flight controller that analyzes data from 10 sensors to regulate the angle of its main foil, a maneuver performed automatically 100 times per second! The latest computer system considers weather conditions such as wind, waves, etc., and aims to make the driving as smooth as possible, according to Candela.

A Candela C-8 with no maintenance

On the technical side, the electric motor with a maximum of 50 kW (68 HP) allows the C-8 to reach a top speed of 30 knots. When cruising at an average speed of 20 knots, its power is limited to 20 kW, granting it up to 2 hours and 30 minutes of autonomy. According to Candela, the motor is maintenance-free up to 3,000 hours of use, resulting in significant savings!

The Candela C-8 can host two adults and two children. Its interior is quite upscale, featuring a cockpit equipped with a 15.4″ touchscreen, which can be connected to a dedicated smartphone app. Optional features include a high-fidelity audio system with six speakers and a subwoofer. Additionally, there is an option to have a small refrigerator and a freshwater shower.
