With its PHA-ZE 100 seaplane project, Swiss company Jekta aims for tourist flights under 2 hours, with a focus on better environmental respect.

The seaplane is actually the ideal means of transportation. It taxis (a little), glides (quite a bit), and flies (very well). An engine-powered craft that is very popular among coastal populations. Its importance is likely to grow, especially with climate change and rising sea levels. Remember that over 70% of the blue planet is made up of water, and if nothing is done to limit ice melting, more boats and seaplanes will be needed for transportation.

To reduce pollution in the air and seas, the Swiss company now presents its seaplane PHA-ZE 100. Developed in collaboration with Italian company MBVision, it features an electric motor with a power of 180 kW.

According to Jekta, it can reach an altitude of 45,000 feet and travel up to 160 km without a drop of fuel, making it highly attractive for healthcare professionals, as well as for passenger transport for short, tourist-oriented flights under two hours.

Note that the manufacturer plans to be able to charge its seaplane using solar energy, thus reducing battery consumption. No information has yet been released on the additional range that this option could provide.

A customizable seaplane

Jekta specifies that a full recharge could be completed in less than forty-five minutes. Several cabin configurations are planned: business, freight, and passenger transport with up to 19 people.
