Horwin SK1: a new small electric scooter

Chinese manufacturer Horwin, which already offers a complete line of electric two-wheelers, is adding a new scooter to its catalog: the SK1.
Classified in the 50cc equivalent category, the Horwin SK1 is limited to 45 km/h. Its electric motor delivers a rated power of 2 kW (3 kW peak) and a torque of 153 Nm. Since it is directly integrated into the rear wheel, there is no chain or belt drive. The SK1 is expected to be particularly quiet and easy to maintain, like most electric 50 cc scooters on the market.
Two levels of autonomy
The SK1 is equipped with a 26 Ah battery, which guarantees a theoretical range of 71 km (manufacturer’s figure). A version with a 36 Ah battery is also available. It is credited with a range of 96 km. As for charging time, it takes about 3.3 hours for the 26 Ah version, and 4.5 hours for the SK1 with a larger battery.
Meanwhile, Horwin plans to market a SK1 Light limited to 25 km/h. Equipped with a less powerful motor and therefore less energy-intensive, this version sacrifices some performance but gains in range (89 km for the 26 Ah version, 116 km for the 36 Ah).
A complete equipment
The SK1 positions itself as the little brother of the 125 cc equivalent SK3. Sitting on 14-inch wheels, it is rather imposing for a scooter in its category. The equipment is comprehensive, including a 5.5-inch LCD screen, LED lighting, and a keyless start system.
Horwin announced that the most affordable SK1 would be priced at €2,990. However, the manufacturer has not released detailed pricing information or a launch date.
