Kymco unveils its first hybrid scooter!
Kymco has unveiled the People R Hybrid 125, its first hybrid scooter equipped with the new TRI-POWER TECHNOLOGY (TPT).
This model marks an important milestone in Kymco’s strategy, aiming to combine performance, energy efficiency, and sustainable urban mobility. The People R Hybrid 125 adopts a dynamic design inspired by the “Tension in Motion” concept, featuring sleek lines and three-dimensional angles. Full LED lighting and the LCD dashboard enhance its modern character. Under the seat, the 125 cm³ liquid-cooled engine delivers 9.3 kW, with torque increased by 13.6% and improved acceleration by 5% over 0 to 100 meters, reaching 8.28 seconds. Fuel consumption is reduced by 13.2%, while the cooling system is optimized by 2.2%.
In terms of equipment, the scooter includes a flat floorboard of 205 mm, a spacious under-seat trunk, keyless start, and USB-A and USB-C ports. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) now features an integrated starter-alternator (ISG), helping to make riding more responsive and smooth.
TRI-POWER Hybrid Technology
TRI-POWER TECHNOLOGY is the core of the innovation. It combines an internal combustion engine with electric assistance, automatically activated during acceleration by the TPT Boost. The system improves power by 0.3 hp, reduces fuel consumption, and delivers sharper acceleration from a standstill.
To ensure safety and reliability, Kymco has integrated the Quad Monitoring System, which monitors more than 150 parameters in real time, and the Trinity Balance, which precisely distributes energy between the battery, ISG, and engine for stable and coordinated operation.
