Is an electric scooter for 550 euros possible?

Zeway operator launches an attractive offer on its refurbished used scooters at appealing prices.

For this launch, the offer involves an initial limited series of 100 scooters of equivalent 50cc and 125cc models offered from €550. Naturally, the lower prices sell quickly, and the offer begins this morning at €650 for a swapperOne eq. 50cc from 2021 with 10,530 km. At this price, there is no battery included in the small two-wheelers, but rest assured, it’s nothing unusual because Zeway’s business model relies on battery swapping. You rent your battery, and when it is empty, you can exchange it at any time for a full one in 50 seconds. The service is currently only available in Paris and Nice, which are logically the only cities concerned by this used scooter offer.

The rider thus purchases the used scooter model that suits them without worrying about the battery’s wear condition. Thanks to a monthly subscription called “Batteries + Energy,” they have unlimited access to 150 battery exchange stations located with partner companies of the operator: BNP Paribas, Carrefour, Monoprix, Auchan, Carrefour, ESSO Certas, TotalEnergies, Effia, and a network of laundries. They can then “swap” at will, meaning exchange their empty battery for a full one.

Therefore, the cost of the used scooter must be supplemented by a subscription to the service, ranging from €29 to €59 per month depending on the scooter model chosen and the anticipated number of kilometers traveled annually. There must be a counterpart to these rock-bottom prices. Calculate to see if it’s more advantageous than your monthly electricity consumption. The Zeway formula will logically be more expensive, but it spares you the chore of recharging. Also, make sure you have a battery exchange station very close to your home or workplace! If not, consider passing, as driving extra kilometers to gain autonomy is the worst concession when riding 100% electric and can disillusion you for good!

Each refurbished scooter comes with a 12-month or 4,000 km warranty.
