Electric motorcycle: the Switch eScrambler in the starting blocks
This page is translated from the original post "Moto électrique : la Switch eScrambler dans les starting-blocks" in French.

Switch, a New Zealand company founded in 2017, is about to launch its electric motorcycle eScrambler. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2023.
The Switch eScrambler made its initial appearance about 2 years ago, in the form of a prototype. Although its “rough” appearance might suggest otherwise, this motorcycle is indeed homologated for the road. The design was conceived by Michel Riis Eriksen, a former Yamaha employee and speedway champion. As shown in the photo above, the final version will differ slightly from the one displayed in the pictures. In addition to a longer seat, it will feature extra protections, mudguards, and mirrors.

High Performance
Built around an aluminum frame, the Switch eScrambler weighs 170 kilograms. Its motor, connected to the wheel via a carbon belt, delivers 50 kW (70 hp). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The rider has a choice of 3 riding modes, plus a “Reverse” mode for backward movement.
The battery of the eScrambler is supplied by LG. With a gross capacity of 13 kWh, it offers a theoretical range of 150 km. Thanks to the onboard 3.5 kW charger, it can be recharged to 90% in approximately 4 hours.
The Switch eScrambler is priced at $11,999. Interested customers can already reserve their unit with a $500 deposit. Initially, Switch is focusing on the New Zealand, Australian, and American markets, where deliveries will begin early next year. The eScrambler is expected to arrive in Europe by mid-2023. Unfortunately, it is likely to cost more in this region.
