Is the BMW CE04 at €180/month without a down payment a good deal?

Until October 31, 2023, BMW’s electric scooter, the CE04, is seeing its price slightly decrease and most importantly requires no upfront payment.

Electromobility is a hot topic in every discussion, especially if you live in a major city in France. A quick calculation shows that switching to a combustion engine model quickly becomes a headache for motorcyclists.

Certainly, the purchase price is higher, but just like cars, buying your electric two-wheeler no longer makes much sense given the rapid technological advancements expected in the coming years. Buying guarantees ownership of a product with very short expiry. Therefore, it is better to ignore the sale price and focus on turnkey leasing offers.

OUR TEST OF THE BMW CE04

At BMW, where the primary clients are corporate managers, leasing costs are calculated to align with what a company can spend on a corporate vehicle. Thus, the popular electric scooter, which is in high demand in France, offers a 36-month long-term lease with equal monthly payments of 180 euros.

During this period, you can travel 20,000 kilometers, a reasonable distance for a city dweller. And the first lease payment is reduced thanks to the 900-euro ecological bonus coverage.

It’s hard to find anything better and more relevant at this reasonable rate. The CE04 is not a discounted product but a true BMW Motorrad with top-notch finishing, performance, and style. Lastly, considering the fuel costs you would incur with a similarly sized combustion engine model (at least 300 cc) consuming 5 liters/100 km, the savings would be around 50 euros per month based on 2 euros per liter versus 0.22 euro per kW. This effectively reduces the CE04 to about 130 euros per month… and we skip over savings on maintenance, as electric vehicles are practically maintenance-free in the first three years of life…
