Transit City: the urban electric made by Ford

Ford Transit City

The new 100% electric Transit City is arriving to simplify last-mile logistics with compactness, real autonomy, and controlled costs.

Ford Pro launches the Transit City, a compact 100% electric van specifically designed for urban delivery and city services. This new model enriches the famous Transit family, the European leader in utility vehicles, by providing a suitable response to the increasing constraints of urban traffic: low emission zones, operating costs, and the need for versatility.

Available in three versions, the Transit City comes in L1H1 van (6 m³, up to 1,085 kg payload), L2H2 van (8.5 m³, up to 1,275 kg) and, for the first time in this segment, as a chassis cab. This last configuration allows body builders to offer custom transformations based on the experience gained with the E-Transit.

In terms of performance, it features a 56 kWh LFP battery offering up to 254 km of range (WLTP). According to Ford Pro, this range easily covers daily needs, as 90% of urban trips are less than 110 km. The 110 kW (150 hp) electric motor ensures smooth and silent driving, while the one-pedal regenerative braking system reduces driver fatigue during the multiple stops typical of city deliveries.

The ideal Transit?

Charging is optimized for professional use: in DC fast charging (up to 87 kW), the vehicle goes from 10 to 80% in 33 minutes. At AC 11 kW, charging from 20 to 80% takes 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Ford Pro emphasizes profitability. Maintenance costs are reported to be reduced by 40% compared to an equivalent diesel, thanks to the mechanical simplicity of electric propulsion. Maintenance intervals extend to 2 years or 40,000 km. The Transit City also benefits from an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on high-voltage components.

Designed for intensive use (up to 200 climbs/descents per day), the cabin incorporates practical features: keyless start, heated driver’s seat, 12-inch touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a complete suite of driving aids.
