Dance launches subscriptions for bicycles and electric scooters
This page is translated from the original post "Dance lance des abonnements vélo et scooters électriques" in French.

In the world of electric two-wheeler rentals that has become competitive in Paris, Dance offers bikes and scooters with or without a subscription.
The new Dance service has just arrived on our screens. It is neither a competitor to TikTok nor a video game to mimic your favorite artist’s moves. Dance is a new mobility operator.
The German company is the initiative of three men. Among them are the founders of the podcast and music platform Soundcloud, Eric Quidenus-Wahlforss and Alexander Ljung, along with Christian Springhub, creator of Jimdo, a website management tool. The service started in summer 2021 in Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich, is attempting the venture in Vienna (Austria), and in the French capital in 2022.
Two electric bikes to choose from
One of the two transport modes in the catalog is the pedal-assisted electric bike. Two versions are available, the Dance One with a traditional frame and an active riding position, and the « Step » with an open frame and high handlebar. Both have a very conventional design, but feature a large black logo on a light blue-gray background.

With very large wheels (28 inches?), these two e-bikes include fenders, disc brakes, rear rack. The rear basket is optional (€2/month), and a free smartphone holder is available. Dance installs the electric motor in the rear hub, connected to the pedal crank via a flexible belt. Unfortunately, it does not specify torque figures and offers only two assistance modes. Most e-bikes feature 3 to 5 modes.
The battery is integrated into the frame, in the lower part. Removable, it offers 55 km of range depending on the brand and charges in 2 hours to 80%. The total weight of the bike is around 21 kg, which is relatively lightweight.

A mobile app provides key information, compensating for the absence of a screen: speed, distance, duration, CO2 saved versus car, etc. It also allows unlocking the bike, reporting issues with repairs within 24 hours, and tracking in case of theft. Dance has a concierge service similar to Decathlon 920E Connect, which tracks and returns the bike.
What is the price of the Dance bike?
Price? It will be €49 per month at launch with an annual subscription, rising to €59 later this year. For rent without a subscription, the rate is €69 per month, then €79 for future customers. Additionally, Dance for Business will offer rental options for employees, aligned with tax advantages like the Sustainable Mobility Package.
Is it expensive? It’s worth comparing Dance with Véligo, which costs €40 but is only available for 6 to 9 months. With a subscription, Swapfiets is more expensive with its Power 1 bike at €59.90 per month. As for the Flex plan, it competes with modern Motto and Red-Will Classic at €75/month.

The electric scooter Dance as well
The other mobility option through subscription is the Dance Scoot. It is not a custom-designed model but simply the Niu NQi Sport electric scooter.

At €79 per month at launch (then €89), it includes delivery, repairs, concierge service, and insurance. With a 50 km range, there is an option for a higher-capacity battery (€11.99/month) offering 65 to 70 km. Helmets and a 33-liter top case are also optional.
Like the Dance One bikes, the electric scooter can be rented without a subscription, but at €99/month compared to €119 afterward.
