Volvo surpasses 5,000 electric trucks delivered worldwide

Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered over 5,000 battery electric trucks in 50 countries.

These vehicles have accumulated over 170 million kilometers according to Volvo, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and road noise, while providing an improved working environment for drivers.

The manufacturer now offers eight electric models suited for various applications, such as urban and regional distribution, construction, or waste collection. Volvo’s main markets for these electric trucks are Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Norway, and Sweden.

The future of zero-emission transportation

Volvo Trucks’ experience with electric solutions has enabled the development of expertise in key areas such as financing, charging, and maintenance of electric trucks. Beyond their environmental benefits, these vehicles offer operational advantages: reduced noise and vibrations, and a better quality of life for drivers.

The electric truck market is now a distinct sector, adopted by major manufacturers such as Daimler Trucks, Scania, MAN, and Tesla. What was once a technological showcase has become a strategic issue to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport solutions. These players are investing heavily to compete on range, payload, and energy efficiency, pushing the industry toward even wider adoption of electric vehicles.

Volvo Trucks aims to achieve carbon-neutral transport by 2040, relying on three technologies: battery-electric, fuel cell electric, and engines using renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, or hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
