Mercedes-Benz eActros 600

The all-electric eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks has been voted International Truck of the Year 2025.

The all-electric eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks has been awarded “International Truck of the Year 2025” by a jury of 24 journalists specializing in commercial vehicles. The prestigious award was presented to Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, during the press day of the IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany.

With 88 votes, the German manufacturer’s electric vehicle surpasses Volvo Trucks’ Aero with electric or thermal engines and the Iveco S-eWay electric tractor. Whether an evolution or a revolution in the transport world, for the first time in the history of the competition, three electric vehicles occupy the final podium, and five of the seven vehicles in the ITOY ranking are emission-free battery electric models. This result is logical considering that the judgment is based on criteria such as technological innovation, comfort, safety, maneuverability, energy efficiency, and environmental footprint. It is the second time that an electric truck has won the International Truck of the Year award since its inception in 1977, following the victory of the VOLVO FH Electric last year.

The powertrain of the eActros 600 is based on two 400 kW motors installed on the electric axle and three LFP batteries of 207 kWh each. With a battery capacity of over 600 kWh, a standard 40-tonne tractor-semi-trailer combination can achieve a range of over 500 kilometers without intermediate recharging. With its prominent front end and smooth, curved surfaces, the ProCabin of the model is designed to improve airflow by 9% compared to the current model. The jury also praised the fact that the eActros is the first truck designed solely to accommodate electric technology.
